Wordpress and Joomla are two of the most popular Open Source CMS out there. Wordpress is easy and simple to use with many mods to use but Joomla is a more detailed CMS that includes blogging possibilities but much more else. This makes Joomla the perfect solution for making a more serious website.
Below we are going to show you a quick way to import your WordPress posts into Joomla.
1. Download all your Wordpress website posts and comments following this tutorial
Select WordPress Backup and browse your computer for the WP xml file, this is the file that you ve saved at Step 1 under the name: wordpress.backup.xml 3. At the "Save to" tab browse where you want to put the migrated WP xml file to a Joomla sql file, for example: wordpress.backup.xml You should save this file with the .sql extension. For example we saved it as joomla.sql at C:/joomla.sql 4.Parameters: a. The "Table Prefix" Tab is usefull only for Joomla Websites that werent installed the default way, we assume you followed the default Joomla installation so we dont recommend changing it. b. The "Admin Id" Tab is the id that you want the wordpress posts to belong to when migrated. A quick way to find this Id is to go to User Manager on administration panel and see the User Id Collumn for the username you want all this posts to belong to. See attached screenshot for more details:  The last right collumn shows the User Id.c. Tab "Section Id" and "Category Id" is where you want all those wordpress posts to get imported. We recommend creating a new Section and Category and import all Wordpress posts there and when done with the import you can change one by one Contents where they really belong to. d. Tab "Post Type to Export" lets you choose which posts you want to get imported, "Public", "Private", "Draft" or All if you choose all of them. 5. When done filling all this details press the "Generate" button so that the xml to sql migration procedure begins. 6. When this procedure ends you are ready to import the sql in your Joomla database. To do so login to your Joomla website phpMyAdmin and open your Joomla Database. 7. While being at phpMyAdmin search for an option that will let you import an sql file to your Joomla database. To make this easier for you i m posting an attachement that shows where this option is located:  We have cirlced the needed options. Browse through your pc so that you ll find the joomla.sql file and then import it to you Joomla database.An alternative option if the previous step doesnt work is to open your joomla.sql file with and editor like notepad and then "Select all" and "Copy" its contents. Then go to phpMyAdmin fo you Joomla database and find the option "SQL" and to the new window that opens paste the content you ve copied before and then press "Go" so that the import begings. We are attaching a screenshot to help you finding this option.  we have circled the options you need.THIS IS IT!!! All of your Wordpress posts are now imported into your Joomla website. All you have to do now is to go to your Joomla website admionistration panel and re arrange the imported wordpress posts to the section and categories you want.
